ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Acceleration Program for Growth Stage in Uganda is an initiative by MTIC, with AAIC as a JICA Startup Ecosystem Advisor and implemented by Hindsight Ventures, to support the Growth Stage Startups (SUs) through an Acceleration Program that aims to strengthen investor readiness of growth stage SUs, and foster cross-industry collaboration, through general and sector specific interventions; as well as focus on expanding selected SUs business to regional / global markets beyond Uganda, through a 3-Months Accelerator Program.

The program targets startups from across the spectrum ranging across FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, ICT, Mobility, Consumer Business and Agriculture, and will operate as 2 cohorts operated in parallel.

A total of 10 startups will be selected per cohort for the Acceleration Program, which will provide selected startups with business development strategy, market penetration / expansion, and promotion of their investment readiness.

Furthermore, opportunities for business and investment matching will be offered through a Demo Day and International Market Roadshow respectively.

The program will run 2 cohorts simultaneously; cohort 2 will be focused on Fintech, ICT, Mobility & Consumer Business & cohort 3 will be focused on Agriculture, Agritech and Healthcare, Healthtech.

Takeaways from the program

3 months
accelerator program

10 Growth Stage Startups (SUs ) per cohort will be selected for a mentorship, business development and market access accelerator, that will be delivered by successful founders, industry leaders, domain experts and investors; alongside leaders from Hindsight Ventures and their global network.

International Market
Roadshow

During the program, the cohort will get an opportunity for an International Market Exposure within Africa.

Demo Day

The 10 startups that graduate from the program under each cohort will be presenting at the Demo Day in front of investors, business leaders, corporations, enablers, DFI’s, Government, which will be hosted in Kampala, Uganda.

Technology Credits

Each startup gets in excess of $600,000 in technology credits from partners such as AWS, Zoho, IBM, Microsoft, Canva, DigitalOcean, FreshWorks and more.

Who Can Apply?

The startups building Fintech, ICT, Mobility and Consumer Business should apply under cohort-2.

The startups operating agri, agritech and healthtech business should apply under cohort-3.

Growth Stage startups that have already achieved a certain level of business performance with growing customers/revenues and are expected to continue and accelerate their growth.

Have a company that is legally registered and operating in Uganda.

The annual revenue is approximately 500 million Uganda Shillings. (This is a rough guideline and does not prevent companies with annual revenues below 500 million Uganda Shillings from applying.)

Have at least one previous successful fundraising from, have attracted interest of, or are in talks with an external investor.

Have a full-time committed team with key qualifications.

Willing to receive coaching and learn.

No. The program is not charging any fees.

We are looking for growth stage startups for the below cohorts:

  • The startups operating fintech, ICT, mobility and consumer business should apply under cohort-2.
  • The startups operating agribusiness, agritech and healthtech should apply under cohort-3.

You can fill-up our online application form with your details as requested. We recommend completing all the fields mentioned in the form.

Applications will be selected through a 3 stage process.
Stage-1 wherein your application will be screened through a weighted scoring mechanism.
Stage-2 wherein your detailed pitch deck will be evaluated by the jury.
Stage 3 - wherein the founder will be interviewed through an in-person meetingl by a jury, to ascertain program fitment..

10 startup founders under each cohort will be selected for the 3 Months Acceleration Program.

We will be using a weighted average score to qualify applying startups on a score of 100 points.

It is a hybrid program. 30% of the components will be delivered in Kampala, and 70% will be delivered online.
