15 high-potential (5 from each of the 3 countries) will be selected for a 4-week venture mentorship and leadership development bootcamp, that will be delivered by successful founders, industry leaders, domain experts and investors from Britam Leadership and Hindsight Ventures global network. The Venture Bootcamp will help establish / reiterate basic venture development processes, enable industry connections, international networks, peer community and more.

Partnership Opportunity

ACCELERATOR

Following the Venture Bootcamp Demo Day, a cohort of 5 startups from across the 3 countries will be selected for a 60-day Accelerator Program that will see startups further their business growth, and aim to secure a PoC / pilot opportunity with Britam.

Technology Credits

TECHNOLOGY CREDITS

During the course of the accelerator each selected startup will get access to $500,000 worth of technology credits from partners such as Zoho, Microsoft, Canva, DigitalOcean, FreshWorks and more that will help them build fast.

Demo Day

VIRTUAL DEMO DAY

The Venture Bootcamp will culminate with a virtual Demo Day, wherein the cohort will pitch to an audience comprising internal stakeholders from Britam HQ and regional offices.

WHO MUST APPLY

We are looking for startups across Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda using technology (Software / Hardware / Software+Hardware), and solve for the above listed focus areas. It is mandatory that applicants should have a registered entity in any of these 3 countries and be operational for a minimum 24 months.

PROGRAM FAQS

The Britam Betalab Regional Startup Challenge is designed to identify high-potential, tech-driven startups and founders in Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda who are building innovative solutions within the defined problem statements. Selected startups will participate in a 4-week Venture Development Bootcamp focused on venture building and growth.
The program runs for 4 weeks from the date of cohort announcement (starting 4th September and ending 14th November 2025).
Following the Bootcamp Demo Day, 5 startups from across the three countries will be selected for a 60-day Accelerator Program, designed to help them scale further and explore PoC/pilot opportunities with Britam.
Submit your application through the provided link. Be clear, precise, and detailed in your responses to help the jury effectively evaluate your solution.
The selection process involves a committee and advisory board comprising representatives from Britam, Hindsight Ventures, and industry experts. After an initial screening, shortlisted startups will present demos of their solutions to the program committee, which will select the final cohort.
- The company must be registered in Tanzania, Uganda, or Rwanda (or have an active business presence in one of these countries).
- The startup must be solving for at least one of the focus areas.
- Startups with early traction are preferred, but strong prototype-stage ideas will also be considered.
The program is conducted entirely online.
- 4-week Venture Bootcamp for the Top 15 startups (5 from each country).
- Top 5 startups advance to a 60-day Accelerator Program.
- Each selected venture receives $600,000 in technology credits.
- Pitching opportunities at a virtual Demo Day.
